It is said that approximately 80-90% of visits to the doctor are stress related. As stress is a part of everyday life, it is vital to learn valuable tools for stress relief.
The Mindfulness Intensive is a Group Therapy for Stress and Anxiety Relief inspired by the MBSR program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn. In this four week intensive group, participants will develop skills in mindfulness meditation and relaxation training.
Group themes include:
-Mindfulness Meditation Training
-Mindful Yoga/Mindful Movement
-Body Scan Meditation
-Finding more JOY and happiness in the day to day
This group series is therapeutic and over the course of four sessions, we will explore mindfulness for daily living to reduce stress and anxiety. This includes self and group inquiry, mindfulness meditation, journaling, relaxation training, and mindful movement. There will be take home guided meditations and homework assignments.
Requirements: Please wear comfortable, loose clothing. Each student should bring a yoga mat.
No prior meditation or yoga experience needed.

Cost: $220- for the group series (Includes guided take home practice and study materials). Payment due prior to the group start date.

Classes led by Dr. Marla McMahon, a Clinical Psychologist, Mindfulness Teacher, & Certified Yoga Instructor. Dr. Marla has been trained in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Mindful Eating, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction through the programs at the UCSD Medical School, Esalen Institute, & MBSR-Teens Program. Trainings Dr. Marla has participated in with include those led by Dr's Jon Kabat-Zinn, Zindel Seagal, and Jean Kristeller.
